Outcomes won't define you . . . your persistence and process will.
When vetting coaches and/or camps,
what experience (year-round) and endorsements do they offer specific
to YOUR players age?
Development Knowledge Hockey is a
continuous collaboration with developers
from USA Hockey, Finland, Czech Republic,
Team Canada, Globally-ranked AAA Teams,
sports and children psychologist and pediatricians . . .
contributors of the 8u-14u ages.
Additional insights from coaches and players at the collegiate up through N.H.L. levels, and what they learned along their journey.
With 20+ years experience coaching
8u - college aged players,
Coach David began specializing with
8-14 year-olds a few years back.
Their age, mindset and capabilities vary greatly requiring a deliberate mentality
vs someone simply showing up.
Instilling a development culture mindset,
his 2024-'25 squirt team accomplished
many unprecedented milestones
beyond winning state.
In hockey. More importantly, in life.
A consistent reminder as a father
of 4 middle-childhood kids
is that they are NOT mini-adults . . .
It is a process.
The player-centric culture fosters
individual creativity.
Players are empowered to make choices
vs being told how to play
or simply going through the motions.
The uncomfortable becomes less-feared . . .
in fact, embraced with newfound confidence.
Development Knowledge Hockey results in mental and physical growth. As life, each process is a building block towards the next.
* Success is despondent upon the participants' attitude. If he/she struggles with coaching or as a team player, this development is not likely a good fit.
" Kids can be challenging and push boundaries as they learn their way. I like the way you are able to manage them when doing so, but in a way that they know you care.
It seems like a gift you have, to show care and respect at the same time of structure, and results.
Anytime you offer future coaching
we will be recommending you and signing up. Thank you.
- Jake P.

"We wanted to reach out to let you know
that tryouts were yesterday and
Reed made the A team!
It was your coaching and extra time
that helped him gain more
self-confidence and experience.
Thank you so much for what you do.
We look forward to seeing you
over the winter at the next camp!"

" I just want to thank you for the time and effort you put into the development of your camp this summer! The growth I have seen in my boys' has been astronomical!
Their skating, skills and overall confidence improved greatly. My boys have had such a positive experience to the point where they are actively looking for you at the rink to say hi :)
This just goes to show the level of coaching
with adult / kid communication and relationship building you provide.
So thank you again for your style of
coaching and commitment to the kids."

" The improvement in my (both) my son's skating techniques was impressive!
But the life lesson values of
kindness, respect and teamwork
that they learned is immeasurable"

"Tyler had such a great time at camp!
You created a fun learning environment he always looked forward to.
Although each player had
different levels of experience,
you encouraged falling and
not being the fastest.
That really resonated with Tyler.
It inspired him to try new things
while developing new skills (at home also!)
Thanks for helping to grow his confidence
with all the time & effort you placed
in camp each day."
- Amy T.

"Thank YOU for a great experience with Miller!
He gained top notch instruction while having a
great time playing and making friends . . .
Your camp really does teach fundamentals
in a fun AND productive way!
The development prepared Miller
to move up to the next level this season.
Thank you!"
